Having trouble accessing MU Library materials from our website? Here are some tips to get you connected!

Always access materials via the MU Library website. If your instructor has linked to our resources via eCampus, they should have linked to them via the library website. If they have not, please let them know!
When you are NOT on campus, you will be asked to validate your credentials by logging in using your MU email and password.
Access to the Wall Street Journal and the New York Times requires initial signup using a unique link. Note: only an MU email address will permit you to successfully create an account.

Getting Started

Use the databases below to access a variety of resources for background research, including newspapers, scholarly and popular articles, dictionaries, and encyclopedias.

NOTE: Monmouth University has access to the New York Times via the Times desktop platform. You must have MU login credentials to set up your free account - click "info" icon to see details. Use Monmouth University login credentials to create a free account with the Wall Street Journal, which is also available via its desktop platform.

Britannica Academic This link opens in a new window The rich combination of the venerable Encyclopedia Britannica plus Merriam-Webster’s Collegiate Dictionary, magazines and periodicals, and many other research tools provides the variety of reliable sources that college students need to consult when conducting thorough collegiate research—all from one resource. Includes access to the Britannica encyclopedia, atlas, world data, the Classics, biographies, news, multimedia, and more.

Newsstream (ProQuest) This link opens in a new window Full text of U.S. and international news sources. Includes coverage of major U.S. and international newspapers such as The New York Times and the Times of London, plus hundreds of other news sources and newswires.
New York Times - full access This link opens in a new window Monmouth University has access to the New York Times via the Times desktop platform. You must have MU login credentials to set up and access your free account. New Monmouth University users go to http://accessnyt.com and choose Monmouth University from the menu. Use your MU email address as a username. After that, login and use nytimes.com to access the site. Does not include premium features (The Athletic, Cooking, Games, or Wirecutter). Coverage from 1851 to present.
