Research Instruction - Information for Faculty

This page includes information on the library's current research instruction offerings. To request instruction, please fill out the research instruction request form. You can request one or more of the session types listed below. If you have any questions, please contact Christine Forbes at chforbes@monmouth.edu. You can also reach out to your department's liaison librarian.

Please note that classes must be requested at least two weeks in advance and professors must accompany their classes.

 

In-Person Sessions

A librarian can provide any of the following:

  • 30-45 minute session introducing the best resources for a specific assignment
  • 30-45 minute demonstration on how to search a particular database or library resource
  • 80 minute session (librarian demonstration and time for student practice)

Sessions can be scheduled in the library computer lab (LIB 033) or in your classroom.

Synchronous Zoom Sessions

A librarian can join your regularly scheduled Zoom class for any of the following:

  • 20 – 30 minute session introducing best resources for a specific assignment
  • 20 – 30 minute demonstration on how to search a particular database or library resource
  • 10 – 15 minute introduction to library services
  • 80 minute session (includes 45 minute demonstration and 35 minute interactive breakout room activity)

Asynchronous Tutorials

The library has a range of tutorials available. Many of these tutorials can be embedded into eCampus to allow you to track student completion. Tutorials are also available for self-directed student learning on the library website and can be added to a course-specific research guide.

Research Guides

A librarian can create a course guide with resources specifically selected to assist your students with their research assignments.
