From the PBS Documentary:
"On July 26, 1990, a crowd of nearly 3,000 guests filled the South Lawn of the White House to watch as Pres. George H.W. Bush signed the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) into law.
'It was hot and humid, and we'd been waiting and waiting and waiting for the ceremony to being,' remembered disability rights activist Cyndi Jones, 'and all of a sudden, a cool breeze blew across the gathering. And I imagined this breeze blowing discrimination away.'
Through the voices of key participants and witnesses, Change, Not Charity: The Americans with Disabilities Act tells the story of the decades-long push for equality and accessibility that resulted in the passage of the ADA."
