HE 440/NU 440: Health Policy

Welcome! This guide will help point you to resources on health policy.

Remember: Evaluate Sources

For ANY source, ask:

  • Who wrote this? What are their credentials?
  • What organization published it? Is it reputable?
  • Who funded it? Any conflicts of interest?
  • What is the purpose? Is it so inform, persuade, sell, or advocate?
  • Is there bias? Does the author or organization have a particular agenda or perspective? (Note: bias doesn't automatically disqualify a source, but you must be aware of it)
  • When was it published? Is it current enough?
  • Does it cite credible sources? Can you verify the claims?
  • What's the tone? Objective and measured, or emotional and inflammatory?
  • Does it acknowledge complexity? Or does it oversimplify?
  • Can you verify key claims? Do other sources say similar things?
