In a 2013 U.S. Department of Commerce Report, The Innovative and Entrepreneurial University: Higher Education, Innovation & Entrepreneurship in Focus the authors identified a series of practices that are helping universities become better at fostering innovation and in nurturing the entrepreneurs that can create products, services, economic value, and high-quality jobs. Student-centric practices discussed in this report include offering courses and degree programs in innovation and entrepreneurship, a strong emphasis on experiential learning, hosting and creating teams for business plan and entrepreneurial competitions, and creating entrepreneurial and innovation collaboration living spaces.

Center for Entrepreneurship - incubates and accelerates entrepreneurs pushing New Jersey and the world forward. Its mission is to help the Monmouth University and regional startup communities tap into and fulfill their entrepreneurial potential. It offers one-on-one coaching, mentorship, business-building resources and learning opportunities, to help entrepreneurs bring their ideas to life and make a positive impact on society.
Kislak Real Estate Institute - was established so that the University could play a more active role in the economic and educational development of the State of New Jersey. To this end, a series of initiatives have begun, including the creation of an Advisory Council comprised of leading experts in real estate and regional development. The Advisory Council has provided guidance and assistance in broadening the network of individuals and organizations that will be connected to Monmouth University.
Institute for Global Understanding - The Institute for Global Understanding promotes cultural literacy and citizenship through academic and arts programs, interdisciplinary research and events, community partnerships, and service at the local and global levels. The IGU fulfills Monmouth University’s broad mission of engaging students, faculty, and staff in fostering diversity, equality, global understanding, leadership, and social justice.
Empowering Young Black Males Leadership Mentoring Program - In this leadership development program, Monmouth University students mentor Neptune High School students to provide support and promote personal and academic achievement. The program also collaborates with Big Brothers Big Sisters of Monmouth & Middlesex County.
Leadership Exploration and Diversity Symposium (LEADS) - Monmouth LEADS (Leadership Exploration and Diversity Symposium) is an on-campus leadership conference experience. The purpose of Monmouth LEADS is to enable students to explore their personal leadership style, develop skills they can apply at Monmouth and beyond, while expanding their awareness of diversity and its role in the student experience.
