Computer Science & Software Engineering

Books

Most scholarly communication in the fields of Computer Science (and Information Science) and Software Engineering is carried on via professional journals.  However, the library does house a number of books (some of them e-books) that are relevant to research in these disciplines.

Searching for Books

Unless you know the title and/or author of the book you are looking for, technology topics should be searched by Keyword to maximize the number of references to a topic.

However, another way to search (and a better way if you are trying to narrow an overly broad topic) is to browse by Subject.  An example  search term would be "Technology"; this heading is followed by topics that are added to the main topic, such as "Technology and Civilization." As you make your way through the subject headings, you will notice that Technology is next broken down by the addition of subtopics,  such "Databases" or "Technology Management."

You can begin to browse the subject headings for Technology by visiting this catalog page

Most books about Technology are found in the "T" section of the Library.  Information Science books are generally to be found in the "Z" section.
