Palmistry (also called chiromancy or chirosophy), is believed to have at least some origin in the Hindu religion. Many cultures adopted palmistry, so there are different meanings in every background. Astrologer William John Warner, popularly known at Cheiro, studied with the masters in India and brought a renewed popularity to the practice in Western Europe in the early twentieth century. Much of what we think of as modern palmistry is based on Cheiro's work.
