Mental Health Awareness

What is Mental Health Awareness Month?

May was declared Mental Health Awareness Month in 1949 by Mental Health America (MHA), formerly the National Association for Mental Health. Each year, MHA releases a toolkit that facilitates public outreach and promotion of global mental health, and selects an annual theme. The 2025 theme was "Turn Awareness into Action."

A green ribbon, symbolizing hope, strength, and emotional support for those affected by mental illness, is the international symbol of mental health awareness.
