Alexis Anderson and Suzanne Anastasio Named Recipients of the 2010 Library Research Awards
Graduate Award
Alexis Anderson’s project, The Nigger Experience: An Examination of the Explosive Epithet, was nominated by English faculty member Heide Estes. In her research award essay, Alexis states, “As a graduate student, I have found that I am required to become the scholastic voice on a topic, not just reiterate what has al-ready been said. The existing research is a foundation to your own thinking.”
Undergraduate Award
Alexis Anastasio’s project titled Defying Gravity and Facing Turbulence: The Women Airforce Service Pilots of World War II, 1942-1944, was completed for her seminar in U.S. History and was nominated by History professor Chris DeRosa. Suzanne explains that , “Since this was a history paper I had to not only learn what the historians researched, I also had to learn about the WASPs through the eyes of a person from that time period.”
